The Nottingham Comedy Festival is directed and organised by Helen Stead who also runs regular comedy nights throughout the year through her company NCF Comedy.
Helen's interest in comedy first began with a visit to the Comedy Store and other comedy venues in London and the local area. She and her friend looked at the comedy scene in Nottingham and found exciting and different forms that they thought should be brought together to highlight all the talent that Nottingham has to offer. This is where the Comedy Festival started, together with the help of local comedians, friends, promoters and businesses Nottingham Comedy Festival 2009 took place in October with 50 acts across 10 venues.
Over the years the festival has grown to include a wide variety of comedy, such as stand up, improvisation and sketch. With shows held in many different venues, including theatres, bars, cafes and restaurants, across both Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, we aim to bring together both the brand new comedians to the well established and give everyone an opportunity to enjoy comedy, whether they are performing or watching. We are very proud to be working with the great Nottingham clubs and promoters including: Glee, Nottingham Arts Theatre, Motorpoint Arena and The Royal Centre.
